Open & Guided forums

This discussion forum is a dynamic board where your message gets displayed immediately after you post it from your computer. Anybody can view these messages and respond to it, which will be displayed too.  This is a perfect place where one can bring a particular problem dogging them. Since a very large number of professionals with a wide range of experiences are visiting the same section, a open discussion with them will always bring you nearer to the solution. This is also the perfect place to share your experience and information with other likeminded professionals for the benefit of everyone.

What is an Open Forum and what is a Guided Forum?

In an Open Forum, anybody can participate in a discussion so long he is following the spirit of the discussion. Entries which are irrelevant or promotional will get eliminated by the Administrator. The numbers of participants are not limited.
An Open Forum becomes a Guided Forum whenever a POMC designated expert participates in the discussion.

Who can participate in a Forum?

You need to be a registered member of the club. The registration is free and it can be done by submitting a simple form which is available from ‘Member Signup’. However any visitor to this site can view these forums.

How do I view the forums?

In the sharing zone, one can enter the forums either by ‘Type’ or by ‘Category’. It will be more convenient to enter by ‘Category’ to reach the open and guided forums. Various discussions are listed under a number of categories based on the topic of discussions. Click on the category of your interest to view all the discussions under that category.

How can I post a message?

Select a suitable category under which you think the topic of discussion falls and then click on ‘Post New Query’. If you have not logged in by this time, a form will ask your username and password.

After submitting these you will get a message form.

Write the name of the topic in a few words so that it correctly represents the content of your message.

Write the message in the larger text box and click on ‘Continue’ to submit the message. If you do not have any file to attach with your message, click on ‘Enter Forum by Category’ and go back to the forum to view the display of your message.

How can I attach a file along with my message?

When you click ‘Continue’ on the Post New Query message box, it will give you an option to select a file to upload by browsing your computer. Select your target file and upload and then go back to the forum to view the display. You can also attach a file with the 'Reply' or 'Comment' message.

What if I don’t find a category of my choice?

Select “Technical Forums (Other)” and post your message if it is a technical query or information or otherwise put it under ‘General Discussion Forum’. If a number of messages are coming on similar topic, POMC Administrator will create a suitable category and shift these discussions under that.

I am getting an error message while posting a query.

It may happen sometimes, in which case do not try to post it again immediately. Send a mail at info@pomc.info and if possible send the message. The Administrator will take care of it.

How can I send a reply to a query?

When you click on a particular topic, you will see the question or the message which started the discussion along with its responses. On the question box, you can send a reply by clicking the ‘Reply’ key. Your reply will be displayed on the same page as the latest entry.

How can I make a comment or put a further question on a particular reply?

On the reply box, you can click the ‘Post Comment’ key to make a comment or put a further question on that particular reply. This will be displayed when you click the ‘View Comment’ on that reply box.

What is a thread?

All the responses to a query are called threads to that query. The numbers of threads indicate the total number of messages posted against that particular query.

When I open a topic, I find the numbers of replies displayed are less than the number of threads mentioned. Where are the other threads?

When some one makes a comment on a particular reply, it adds up to the number of threads but it is displayed by the ‘View Comment’ key on that reply box. All the follow-up discussion generated through that reply are displayed in the same page.

Who are the Experts?

POMC identifies these senior professionals as Experts based on the seniority and experience in their respective field. Some of these experts are included in the ‘Expert’s Panel’ of the club who have agreed to share their experience to this platform, whenever they find it convenient. Some of them are also available to offer consultation services in the area of their expertise. They are in no way obligated to respond to every question that are raised in this forum. They do it voluntarily and at their own convenient time. However, all messages in these forums express the views of the author, and Club Administrator will not be held responsible for the content of any message.

How can I know when an Expert participates?

The type of forum will change to ‘Guided Forum’ from an ‘Open Forum’.

Whenever an expert responds to any query. The expert is identified by the icon beside his name. On clicking the icon, one can view a short profile of that expert.
